Small Lake Fishing 3-4

Well the weather is finally getting better!  This February was one of the coldest that I can remember in Georgia!  Finally March is here and we have some decent weather!  Large bodies of water like Lake Lanier take a while to warm up so I decided to fish a small North GA lake today for some crappie or bass.  The crappie did not cooperate but I got on a decent Largemouth bite with ultralights and a 2 inch grub.

The bass were holding in 5-10 feet of water off of blowdowns and brush.  I only took ultralight gear as my target was crappie.  These small bass are a ton of fun on the light gear!  I did not land any large fish but saw some HUGE bass cruising the shallows!  I will definitely take a spinnerbait and a crank next time I visit this lake!

It was nice to be back on the water in the kayak and catching fish!  Hope to report on the crappie bite next time!
