Late March Lanier Area Kayak Fishing Report

Fishing is picking up on Lanier!  I have been out several times over the past week for crappie and today for stripers.  I boated a nice 20 pound class striper today on a free-lined blueback herring, this seems to be what most anglers are using for stripers right now along with jerkbaits.   Don't be afraid to cover some water to find the fish though!

Crappie fishing has been decent, I have started to catching them under shallower docks, my best lure is still a 1/32 oz jig tipped with a crappie nibble.  The water temps should really warm up this weekend, I think next week will be great for shallow crappie!

Good luck on the water this week, if you are new to the sport of kayak fishing be sure to stop by our forum at www.lanierkayakfishing.proboards.com
