Spots on Top, Stripers on downlines

Hit Lanier for a few hours yesterday to find tons of spotted bass busting the surface.  These fish were very aggressive and attacked a super spook as well as a sebile swimbait!  Nothing like topwater fishing!  After the spots went down I ended up with a few stripers on downlined bluebacks including a double of small stripers.  Fun day on the lake!

  2. Hey Greg, I work for the fire department in Athens and i met your dad the other day, he showed me your blog site. I have been wanting to get in to kayak fishing for some time now but didn't know anyone who did it, I live in Elberton on Lake Russell, if you have never fished here, you need to plan a trip. Lake Russell is usally very un-crowded since there is no building on the lake, in fact most days you might not even see another boat it is unlike any other fishing experience. The top end of the lake is stocked with trout where the cold water from Lake Hartwell feeds into Russell under the dam, boats with motors are only able to get so far because of the shallow water and the rocks, but there are huge striper in that part of the lake feeding on the trout. I would be interested in seeing how your set up and maybe buying some equipment for myself. feel free to contact me and I will be happy to show you the area. Take Care and good fishing
